How it works

Our process

Admissions

We manage planned, urgent, and residential admissions through a comprehensive process that ensures each child's needs are thoroughly understood and catered for. For planned admissions, we work closely with the child, their family, and any involved professionals to ensure a smooth transition into our care. For urgent and residential admissions, we have a rapid response team that can quickly assess and admit children into our care.

Assessment of Care and Support

Upon admission, each child undergoes an initial assessment to identify their care and support needs. This assessment is conducted by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including social workers, psychologists, and healthcare professionals. The assessment covers various aspects, including physical health, emotional well-being, social skills, and educational needs.

Personal Plan Development

Based on the initial assessment, a personalised care and support plan is developed for each child. This plan outlines the specific care and support services the child will receive, the goals to be achieved, and the strategies to be used. The plan is developed in consultation with the child and their representative to ensure it reflects their needs, preferences, and aspirations.

Induction Training - all new staff members will undergo an induction training to familiarise them with our policies, procedures, and the specific needs of the children under our care. This will also include training on child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations.

Specialist Care Training - staff will receive training on providing specialist care tailored to the needs of the children under our care. This could include training on managing specific health conditions, behavioural management techniques, and therapeutic interventions.

We also focus on encouraging children to develop independence, make informed choices, and build self-esteem. By providing opportunities for learning, skill development, and personal growth, we foster an environment that supports autonomy and confidence.

We support children in their transition to independence and adulthood by working on aspects that include their basic life skills, behaviour and morals, confidence and self-esteem and respect for self and others.

Developing programmes and activities that integrate children into the local community is also a priority. We promote social engagement and a sense of belonging by encouraging participation in community events and fostering relationships with local organisations.
